Live music in the Andreas Quartier
Sounds and rhythms that move everyone
After space and time, live music is the fifth dimension of the Andreas Quartier and at the same time its soul. A form of art that is created directly in front of the audience and immediately fades away, that touches, enchants and transforms emotionally.
From chanson to jazz
First-class music in elegant surroundings
The pianist Jovan Dordevic and the AQ-Trio are the musicians responsible for the typical, sophisticated AQ sound. They give the district of the city in the living rooms of Düsseldorf its unmistakable sound with the language of music and take their listeners on a musical world tour with jazz, chansons and other styles. Their concerts take place on the terrace in summer and in the lobby in winter, where the acoustics are extraordinary.
Jovan Dordevic
The man at the piano
‘Sometimes when I play in the Andreas Quartier, I forget that I'm in Düsseldorf and not in New York.’
Jovan Dordevic inherited his talent from his mother, a successful singer, and his father, a pianist. In the 1970s, he attended a private music school in Belgrade for talented musicians. After that, he was drawn out into the world. He played concerts with various jazz musicians all over the place. From 1993, he found a new home on German stages and has been playing blues, jazz, pop, soul, classical and film music ever since. Since 2017, Jovan Dordevic has been the house pianist at Andreas Quartier, creating the right atmosphere in the living room of Düsseldorf.

The AQ trio
Growing together in the Andreas Quartier
On 3 October 2018, the three musicians celebrated the premiere of the ‘AQ Sound’ event in the Andreas Quartier, where several artists played at different locations within the quarter and ended the evening in the living room of Düsseldorf. The guests and audience were thrilled by the spontaneous harmony between the duo ‘Savoir vivre’ (Noémi Schröder & Klaus Klaas) and the guitarist Dirk Bell.
The chance encounter quickly turned into an extraordinary trio. The AQ trio was born. Since then, it has become an integral part of the Andreas Quartier, and its concerts have become a tradition in the house.
Noémi Schröder
Ravishingly rousing
‘Inspiring people emotionally with my singing is what drives me, and the special acoustics in the living rooms of Düsseldorf still give me goosebumps.’
Noémi Schröder, born in Saarland, studied opera singing in Saarbrücken and Düsseldorf. While still a student, she sang as a guest at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. After her studies, she completed a musical education with dance and acting in Berlin. She then performed leading roles in musicals in Berlin, Stuttgart, Schwäbisch Gmünd and at the Clingenburg Festival.
Since the birth of her daughter in 2014, she has mainly been singing in her own formations. One of her great passions is jazz singing, which she performs with great passion as the frontwoman of the AQ trio.
Dirk Bell
A multi-faceted personality
‘Playing in a historical building is always special. At the AQ, the past and the modern merge into a unique composition in Düsseldorf."
Dirk Bell is a musician, producer and composer from Cologne. He plays guitar, bass, mandolin and flute. He was one of the first Germans to graduate from the “Guitar Institute of Technology” in Los Angeles in the early 80s. The guitarist, who plays a 7-string, studied under Pat Martino and follows in the footsteps of Wes Montgomery and George van Eps. Bell's musical roots lie in European classical music, blues and folk music. As soon as Bell picks up the guitar, the audience is captivated by his sounds.
When he performs in living rooms in Düsseldorf, he always incorporates his American influences.
Klaus Klaas
The keyboard virtuoso
‘For me, performing at the Andreas Quartier is always like playing on Düsseldorf's main stage, in the historic heart of the city.’
Klaus Klaas, born in Barcelona in 1964, began his musical education in 1970 with classical piano and music lessons.
In 1982, Klaas moved to Germany, where he received his first engagements as a pianist in bars, hotels and galleries in Düsseldorf from 1986. Since 1994, he has been a passionate keyboarder in various bands and has accompanied numerous solo artists. 17 years later, Klaus Klaas became a member of the ensemble and pianist with the music theatre group ‘Herrencrême’ and founder of the project ‘Klaus Klaas & Friends’.
With his creative and accomplished piano playing, he has been enriching the Andreas Quartier since 2018.
Kay Grossmann
The musician with the sax appeal
The late Kay Grossmann was an incomparable, great musician and person. From the very beginning, he and his music friends filled the Andreas Quartier with his unforgettable, empathetic sound.
It is also unforgettable how he always ended the respective live music evening with the same piece ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ and thus created a real cult in the living room of Düsseldorf. His audience and friends will remember the talented saxophonist forever.
The Steinway grand piano in the living room of Düsseldorf
Symbolises first-class musical entertainment
The lounge in the living room of Düsseldorf is an elegant place where people come together – by chance or by plan. Here stands a magnificent Steinway grand piano, which is played regularly. The gentle tones of the piano create a relaxed yet exclusive atmosphere that invites you to linger and enjoy. The combination of music performed by virtuosos, stylish design and first-class service makes the lounge a special highlight and the heart of the Andreas Quartier.
